Clean place with wonderful view of the ocean. A shared balcony, a safe box, and Netflix available in the double room. Stunning location, so close to Sun Jaguar. An affordable restaurant with international and mexican dishes.

Very friendly staff who are always there to help you. Top location directly on the beach and to the pedestrian zone... Good breakfast.
Credit card problems, even though it worked elsewhere. Hotel a little expensive.

The hotel is located directly on the beach. Brilliant. The staff was very friendly. Especially reception and restaurant. Very beautifully landscaped with a small courtyard. The rooms have a great balcony.
Some of the rooms were not cleaned at all or only half cleaned. The water in the shower and at the sink flows only drop by drop. Unfortunately, the beach chairs belonging to the hotel are also available to non-hotel guests.

A Relaxing Escape
The quaint decor and beautiful ocean view were good. The helpful staff even delivered a hammock to our balcony. Do enjoy meals right on the beach, but remember to pay directly as they don't charge to your room. Watch out for parking rules though!

Location is very central, there is really something going on. Beach good
Breakfast as expected nothing special, for the money you also get something around the corner. Location and hotel is very noisy, engines and music...

We had booked a sea view room with a large balcony and a direct view of the sea. Beach chairs and umbrellas free of charge for hotel guests. After a few minutes you are on the Avenida Nr 5 (called fifth. Avenue) the strolling and shopping mile of Playa del Carmen.
Breakfast not included; there is a lot going on on the beach; sunbeds can also be rented to non-hotel guests.

Its close to the beach, the balcony was enormous! The staff was very friendly.
The beds were horrible and impossible to sleep in!! I even got a bruice on my hip from the bedsprings! And the music from the nearby restaurant was terrible!!!! It sounded like they were playing inside the room!

Super location, directly at the beach and very close to the center but still quiet at night. Room and shower very large. Wide and comfortable beds. Refrigerator in the room. Nice courtyard. Good breakfast (unfortunately no buffet) with a great view of the sea.

Came back here after 12 years. Pelicano Inn is a beautifully rustic holdout in an area quickly becoming slick and gaudy. Courtyard garden is beautiful and quiet. Location on the water and in the middle of pedestrian zone can't be beat. Exceptionally good price. Friendly, English-speaking staff. Free wi-fi worked great for me. Except that Playa has lost its small-village charm, I would go back to Pelicano. It's not luxurious, but has more beauty and warmth than what I would call 'bare bones'.
I wish the rooms still had hammocks, the hooks are still in place and the mattresses are really bad. Used to put free quart of bottled water in every room. Noise from Fusion bar nearby ruins the ability to listen to the surf at night (though that apparently does not affect the 'garden view' rooms as much as 'ocean front'). Concierge recommended garish Vegas-style show, and when I said that was exactly NOT what I was looking for, instead of suggesting low-key locals-style activities he said 'oh you gotta go'.
